Its never going to be easy pigeonholing a long and illustrious career like that of Steve Taylors in just a few words. Musical all-rounder, Singer, Guitarist, Songwriter, Producer, all fit the bill, yet a whole career dedicated to music, is seldom done justice in a couple of well-chosen phrases.
Steve being Steve is a fine musician in his own right, but he can also wear the now very trendy badge of singer/songwriter with pride. For along with his wife Heather, he has been the creative force behind some of Daniel O Donnells biggest hits including: Give a little love, Footsteps, Timeless and A Christmas Kiss.
Shakin' Stevens too has benefited from his song writing talents and production. Yet despite ranking up a fistful of UK chart hits, the lure of the live performance is never far away. Its with some considerable pride that he was asked to join Mike Penders' Searchers, at the request of Mike himself. Not many musicians get to play alongside their heroes, Steve certainly has and nothing is more treasured than the award he received from Sir Paul McCartney for writing a song in The Buddy Holly style and Linda saying how much he sounded like Buddy.
He has played at many major venues including the Ricoh Arena, The NIA and The Winter Gardens Blackpool but he is equally at home in smaller more intimate venues.
You can be assured that when Steve has his solo performers hat on, like all the other musical jobs he has been involved with, you can expect it to be carried out in Steves own unique style. All the backing tracks are made by Steve in his studio to a very high standard, playing all the instruments and backing vocals. Steve really enjoys the buzz of a live performance and he always plays live guitar, unlike many others. Then its probably back on with another kind of hat, maybe a song writing one maybe a production one, or possibly something totally different and that's all part of the fun.
